AFFORDABLE AND CREATIVE WEDDING FAVOR IDEAS

Weddings can be pricey even with the best of budget management, there are so many things to organize and pay for - the last thing on your mind are the wedding favors. So maybe you are sitting in a mind swirl of white dresses and wedding venues and you have realized your wedding is in two weeks and you totally forgot about the wedding favors. Here are some unique and DIY ideas that are affordable and may strike creativity in your mind or straight up answer the question “What must I give for our wedding favors?".

1. JAR OF HONEY OR SYRUP

Honey represents a pure and innocent yet rustic element to your wedding. Consider little honey jars for a simple, sweet (excuse the pun) and rustic wedding. Depending on what honey you buy the cost may vary but it is mostly affordable without seeming too cheap. It's relatively healthy and is mostly accepted by all...Except vegans. If you are vegan and your main goal is to save the bees consider the following favor…

2. JAR OF HOMEMADE JAM

Jam is made typically from fruit so it is indeed vegan friendly, homemade jam just sounds yummy and unique. Jam is super easy to make and when homemade you can control the amount of sugar added into it. This can make it ever so slightly more calorie friendly. You can make your jams exotic by adding ginger, kiwi or chia seeds.

3. DRIED FRUIT

So maybe you are not even close to a chef in the kitchen and jam is just out of the question. Little cardboard holders or jars of dried fruit can look and taste just as delicious. Mixing fruits like cranberries and mango or banana with apricots and dates look deliciously colourful. You can mix flavors and colours to match your theme and taste buds.

4. OLIVE OIL

A very unusual gift to give but a lovely idea is a little bottle of oil. But not any oil, cold pressed pure extra virgin and all that fancy jazz. Olive oil can be eccentric when it has a story to it. Some olive oils are made in Spain or Greece, maybe finding an elaborate oil made in a country where your family roots come from can give it sentimental value.

5. SALT

Using sea salt or even pink himalayan salt as a wedding favor is a really long lasting gift you could give. You can give the salt in crystal form for a certain aesthetic but if you are thinking practical maybe give an already ground up jar of salt.

6. COFFEE BEANS

Um.. who doesn’t love coffee? Enough said. Although a little on the pricey side, the smell of coffee is rich, warm, and loved by so many. High quality coffee beans with nutty aromas can make a wonderful gift to give. There are so many coffee bean variations it is entirely up to you which ones you use, nevertheless, the guests will love them and their smell.

7. HOT CHOCOLATE

A little bottle of hot chocolate is an awesome favor for the winter times when things are cold and hot chocolate is trendy. Designing up a little jar of hot chocolate powder with some marshmallows on the side for a hot chocolate kit will be a hit for sure.

8. MINTS

For a creative idea, giving out some mints with the tagline “Mint to Be” will definitely lighten hearts and freshen some breath. Mints are not always common as a wedding favor and are quite affordable too.

9. POPCORN

The party will be poppin and so should the guests' wedding favors with this idea. A nice jar of caramel coated popcorn commonly known as caramel corn, this is a cute little idea that’s inexpensive (since popcorn can be quite a space filler) is brilliant.

10. BATH SALTS

If you are all about the pamper lifestyle the next couple are definitely for you and your wedding. Bath salts can come in so many fragrances and colours it is sure you could find one that matches your wedding theme and if not you can surely DIY one on your own with simple tutorials found all over the internet. Guests will love a warm relaxing bath after such a celebration.

11. BATH BOMBS

If bath salts were a bit too simple for your taste you can look at bath bombs. Recently bath bombs have become a huge deal and there is a glore of variety going around. Shapes, colours, scents and size. You can surely play around with this one to match your desires.

12. CANDLES

Candles are just a classic romantic item that have set the standard high for a long time to come. So what better gift to give on a wedding day than a gift that symbolizes romance? Again you can look for a scent and colour that you enjoy and roll with that.

13. FACE CLOTH

Practical and pretty. A face cloth is rather simple but can be dressed up with flowers, chocolates or maybe a small bar soap. You can stylize your face cloth with colour and even embroidery of your initials if that's something you would want.

14. HIS FAV AND HER FAV

So you can’t pick, do a bit of his and a bit hers. This is completely personal so suggestions would take away the uniqueness but nevertheless examples can be given. Sweet and salty? Maybe you like something sweet and he likes something salty? Chocolates and Biltong. How about sweet and spicy? Well maybe she is spicy and likes her spicy food too and he is the sweet one, a bottle of spicy candy. Play around with this one and have fun with this one.

15. AIR PLANT - LET THE LOVE GROW

Be a little different and give an air plant, often succulents are given just because they are simple to look after. Air plants can be low maintenance too as well as just different compared to the general ...soil plants! SO last week! Anyways.. You get the idea.
